Bringing up a child does not merely include diaper changes, potty training, school work and sports – but – you know that. When God puts a little one in your life, He charges you with the responsibility to direct your little one to the Creator.
In Deutronomy chapter 6 in the Bible God says “ Listen, people of Israel! The Lord is our God. He is the only Lord. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength. 6 Always remember these commands I give you today. 7 Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road. Talk about them when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Write them down and tie them to your hands as a sign. Tie them on your forehead to remind you.9 Write them on your doors and gates.” — we are commanded to do whatever it takes to help us remember what God has done for us.
What are the ways you could direct your little one to the God you love? How could you remember the stories of God’s faithfulness not only in the Bible but the stories that have translated into your own life (answered prayers – both positive and negative, provision, protection..we can go on and on). Faith-ing is about the sharing of stories, of faith, of love and of hope. This command is an every day affair not a sunday morning commitment. You are the spiritual mentor of your little one. And you have a mission.
