Humans are like trees

In this post, I consider the Biblical metaphor of Humans as trees… (I will flesh this out soon, but if you have any more to add or questions about some thoughts here do share them in the comments section below or on the FB page )

Psalm 1 – We are created to be like a flourishing tree near the waters, thriving in spite of the scorching heat, providing shade and fruit for other living beings.

Genesis 1 – God creates trees with the seed in them so they can “be fruitful and multiply.” People are commanded to “be fruitful and fill the earth.” Trees have the ability of perpetual life, but trees are not God but created by God.

wood from trees become places of sacrifice – think of Noah’s sacrifice (Gen and Jesus’ sacrifice’s His life on a tree (Acts5:20)

salvation comes from the tree – Life in the fruit of the Tree of Life, Noah’s ark, Jessie’s tree, Tree-cross.

The Tree of Life is the gift of God’s life to humans. But trees can be a place of test (Gen2) or life as a gift in the Tree of Life. Of course, in some places, the test is in front of another person (Joseph and Potiphar’s wife) instead of a tree. But Humans are like trees.

The tree is also a place of meeting God. Abraham meets with God “under the trees of Mamre.”

Can you think of other metaphors that highlight humans as trees?
