Happy Earth Day!!

I am excited about celebrating ‘Earth Day’. It is a time to highlight the importance of caring for this world we live in. It is another way we fulfill our responsibility as children of God in taking care of the world God has made for us to live and enjoy. It is an amazing time to acknowledge and remember that this world is made by our Father Creator out of His love for us.

My family has a fascination for the stars. Recently my daughter (8) was chosen among 25 students in her elementary school to attend an exhibition by NASA. She came back in awe and full of questions. We went to the NASA site (https://www.nasa.gov/) and gathered more information using her questions as starting points. Blew my mind away AGAIN. What an amazing God we have! How absolutely creative!

This is a picture of the MilkyWay galaxy home to our Solar System. The red marking you see is the location of our Sun, on one of the outer arms of the galaxy. Our earth is orbiting around that sun. And this is just 1 of the 100 billion galaxies(on the lower side) in the observable universe!!

Using this image along with others I began to thank God for this world (seen and unseen), Space and all the stars. Praise God for I cannot even begin to understand how awesome He is. I am totally overwhelmed and blessed by how much this TOTALLY AMAZING, ALL POWERFUL CREATOR God loves me.

And here are some sounds in space – absolutely thrilling :http://www.nasa.gov/…/features/halloween_sounds.html

So, last evening  my daughters and I scooped out our lemon seedlings which we grew from seed into little paper cups.

DSC01008 We took these to our neighbours (we are new in this neighbourhood -3 months in here) Introduced ourselves and gave them a lemon seedling, wished them a wonderful Earth Day because God made this world for us out of His love for us. We got an interesting range of responses – all good ones (astonished adults, curious adults, cheerful and happy teens and friendly and excited adults too). All of whom were in agreement that this world is Awesome and we need to take care of it in our little corner.

Here is my doodle on Colossians 1:16
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all.

How did you celebrate Earth Day?
If you are willing do share with us some of the things you are doing to care for our Father’s World?

PS>

After reading all that information and seeing all the astounding pictures I couldn’t help but realise the kind of wisdom God has blessed us (mankind) with. What a powerful tool! But let’s not get carried away into thinking we can be like God or we don’t need Him.
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

Colossians 1:16
