pondering over the story of the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.
Here Jesus was talking and telling stories to a huge bunch of people. Stories about the art of living and true life. The time flew by and it was time for a meal. So Jesus looks at all these people just waiting to hear him speak. Jesus asls his disciples to give all the people something to eat. The disciples are stunned, they don’t have the means to provide for All these people-the whole crowd, they suggest an alternative , send them away. Its enough. Jesus looks at them “and filled with compassion” asks them to gather whatever they have. He takes the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, blesses it, multiples it and hands it to be distributed, It was more than enough for ALL the people there.
Jesus’ compassion preceeds provision.
So in whatever you provide -encouraging words, hot meal, provision for the family – let it come from love.
