This week many people will be celebrating the victory of light over darkness. As I pondered over this thought, the roles and effects of light came to the forefront.
Light dispels darkness. But light can be hidden. Its glow can be obstructed.
In its property of dispelling darkness, light shows the way.
Light is a sign of invitation. (A light indicates one’s presence)
Light is a sign of celebration. ( be it a candle in remembrance of a loved one, at festivals, on cakes etc).
But where is this light? Jesus says “You are the Light of the world” and in Psalm 119 the Psalmist says ‘The teaching of your(God’s) word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” In John chapter 8 Jesus says “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
So Yes! Light has overcome darkness. And if we live continuing to get deeper in our relationship with God we will be able to shed the Light all around.
So let’s celebrate!!!
